# What Hostel Mate Controls

Hostel Mate sends prices and availability. Promotions, cancellation policies and your listing are managed in each OTA's extranet.

Hostel Mate sends your channels two things: **prices** and **availability** (plus minimum stays and closed dates, which are part of availability).

Everything else is set in the OTA's own extranet, and we can't change it from here:

* Promotions, discounts, Genius and member deals
* Cancellation policies, and whether a rate is flexible or non-refundable
* Your property name, description, photos and room setup

## Why guests see a different price

You set $10 a bed in Hostel Mate, and we send $10. Then the OTA runs a promotion, and the guest sees $9.

If you want guests to see your price, turn off the promotion in the OTA's extranet. To check what we sent, look at the extranet calendar, not the public listing.

## Why a non-refundable rate says "Free cancellation"

The OTA sets the cancellation terms, not us. Open the rate plan in the extranet and set its cancellation policy there.
